Hennies Rest

We saw elephants and hippos around the house every day and night, plus crocodiles, buck, warthogs, and loads of bird species. The patio has a braai and a fantastic view across the Crocodile River into the park. The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable, and the house has the usual conveniences, including a washing machine and dishwasher. It's hard to imagine a better base for visiting the southern side of Kruger National Park. Amazing place.

We spent one day watching all sorts of wildlife from the decks instead of heading into Kruger, and the views were incredible in every direction along the Crocodile river. Elephants even came to feed from the tree shading us. There's a small pool, great deck space, and all the amenities we could want. Hennies is a very special place, and we'll definitely return.

Cornelia was such a lovely host, and it was wonderful having the whole place to ourselves. We stayed in March as a family, with my older folks in apartment Sophie downstairs and the five of us in Hennie's upstairs. The setting right on the river is magical, with beautiful views from the deck and both braai areas. The website doesn't do the location justice, and we hardly needed to leave. There are quite a few steps from Hennie's to the pool, and also between apartment Sophie and the pool. That's fine if you're able, but worth considering with very young children or older guests who aren't as mobile. We'd love to visit again.

Cornelia was wonderful. She clearly loves the bush and takes good care of the property. From the deck we saw crocodiles, waterbuck, elephants, bushbuck, fish eagles, impala, hippos, and lots of other birds. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed to cook for ourselves. It's a beautiful spot beside the Crocodile River, across from Kruger Park and about five minutes from the Malelane gate. The one downside for me was the barking dogs, which visit often, so you need to be comfortable around dogs. Still a special place.
