Aero Lodge Guest House

The staff were friendly, everything was clean, and I really enjoyed the breakfast. Such a great place.

We booked and paid in full a month ahead for two rooms with double beds for two nights, for two adults and two kids. The owner confirmed on arrival day that everything was ready, but when we got there our names had been crossed off the two rooms and we were put into one room with two single beds. They offered to add two single mattresses, but it clearly wasn’t a family room and there wasn’t enough space, so we refused it. The owner, who was heading off on holiday, was on the phone cursing at her mother at reception. Eventually we got the room we’d originally booked, with a promise that we’d get the other one too. At 18:00 pm they said they’d put two single mattresses in our one room, which wasn’t a family room, but we accepted because the other guest houses were full. By 21:00 pm, we got just one single mattress, with no fitted sheet, duvet, or cushion, only an empty duvet cover. We’re still waiting for our R2460 refund and hope it won’t be another empty promise. We hadn’t paid for breakfast, thankfully, because I know other guests were waiting past the arranged time for theirs.

We paid in full a week before our stay, after booking about four weeks in advance, but on arrival the manager told our group of 12 that two rooms weren’t available because of “plumbing problems.” We had to split up and stay at another guest house. Apparently this is a typical excuse, as they regularly overbook. The next morning, after pre-booking and paying for 12 breakfasts, we only got 10. At R125 each, what we were served wasn’t worth the price. A Macdonald burger would’ve been better, and I don’t even like the big M. Aero Lodge won’t see me or my friends again. Sorry to the owner.

As a long stay guest, I had to deal with stained bedding and towels, blocked shower drains, poor food, and constantly asking for electricity to be loaded. Then I’d wait hours without power. A lady named Lindiwe was very rude, yelling and screaming at me and telling me where to get off. The treatment from her after that was shocking. This place has potential, but the owner needs to step in and enforce serious discipline.
