We were very disappointed with this stay, especially for the amount we paid. The location is great, but that’s where the positives end, and we won’t recommend this “guesthouse.” It’s advertised as Luxury Modern Accommodation, but it didn’t feel luxurious or modern. The furnishings are old and worn, and the towels have lost their whiteness. They’re very old, thin and hard. There are no air conditioners, just small standing fans that are noisy and don’t do much for December weather. The kitchen fridge has lights on but doesn’t keep anything cold, so it’s basically a cupboard. There was no privacy or security. The front door can’t be locked and has to stay open at all times so guests from another guest house can use the pool and braai area. When we asked about safety at night, we were told, “just lock yourselfs in your rooms.” On the first morning, staff wanted to use the house kitchen to make breakfast for guests in the other house, while we were trying to get ourselves and the kids ready for a golf tournament.

The four bedrooms are well cared for, and two have their own bathrooms. In Koro Creek golf estate, this lodge sleeps eight adults comfortably, with two extra beds above the bathroom in one room for small people. The kitchen, lounge and dining room share one open space, and the braai area is large too.

There’s a friendly host, and optional breakfast is served on the covered patio overlooking the pool. The thatched property is stylish and sits in a security estate with a golf course. It has a shared, spacious lounge, kitchen and dining area, a comfy bed, and Bedroom 2 has both a bath and shower. Undercover parking and free Wifi are available. No pets.

A very clean, well-appointed guest house that’s easy to find and works well for a group or family travelling to or from the Kruger National Park. We had an issue with the hot water, though I’m sure it’ll be fine if all the geysers are on.
