The hotel has lovely design details, with a mix of historic and modern touches. We had better views from our room than expected, and the turndown cookies were amazing. Breakfast was OK. The staff were so kind and helpful that it almost felt like too much. Mossel Bay itself is lovely, and the hotel is an easy walk from lots of charming cafés and restaurants. There are practically more cafés than street lights. But it pains me to say the town seems to have a drug and alcohol problem. I didn't see anyone acting violently, though there were groups of very gaunt locals on the main street who seemed dead behind the eyes.

The front desk team were the best I've come across at a hotel: polite, helpful and always available. They made our honeymoon memorable. We’d definitely consider staying here again and recommend it to friends visiting Mossel Bay.

The restaurant food was excellent, and the staff made a real effort to accommodate our food restrictions. Olivia and Lundi deserve a special mention for their help. Breakfast was good, although it didn't quite meet the hotel's standards. The attached gin distillery is worth a visit and has some nice souvenirs to take home. The property was a delight to stay in and very well maintained, with a super friendly, courteous team. It is a little pricey, but I'd strongly recommend it.

We had everything we needed in the spacious studio, and it was spotless, attractive and well cared for. The bed was cozy, and the room was quiet. The staff were always ready to help and made us feel welcome. We’d happily return. Highly recommend!

The hotel is quaint, nicely decorated and in an excellent location. The manager was very friendly and helpful, and service overall was satisfactory. The reception guy, though, was quite rude, and the experience wasn't up to the standard of other Protea/ Marriott hotels. There was a strong fishy smell on the way to the rooms because the Gannet restaurant is right inside. The pool is tiny and lacks privacy, sitting just across from the restaurant. Still, I had a good stay overall.
