I was really disappointed. The food, the waitresses' happy smiles, and the decor were the only three good things. During the July 2016 storms and Durban flooding, I asked for a heater when the rain began and was told to use the aircon. It wouldn't switch on in my first room, so they moved me. The next room's aircon worked, but shower water ran out into the passage. I only saw the owner on the day I checked out.

In December 2017, Tradewinds let us use their venue for a charity Night Market without charging us. That meant our vendors could donate freely to the charity we chose, and we were able to provide presents and sweets for every hospice child and adult. Thank you to this kind venue.

I spent two nights here while attending a trade show in Amatikulu. It has a rustic, dated feel, but the rooms were clean and had the basics. The free Wi-Fi was a nice surprise. Dinner was remarkably cheap and good, and breakfast was good too. If you want low-cost, no-frills accommodation and a satisfactory stay, this should suit you.

We stayed for ten days as a study group with students from several universities, and I was shocked this counts as student accommodation in South Africa. Tradewinds Country Inn has an old website that can easily give the wrong impression. It's now cheap student housing. Most rooms have no air conditioning, some outlets don't work at all, and the staff, though friendly, were misinformed.
