Qambathi Mountain Lodge

Qambathi has a peaceful, calming setting that makes it easy to slow down. We watched birds and were lucky to see crowned cranes, walked the forest paths, and visited the nearby village of Tendela, which gave the stay a real sense of place. Over a recent weekend at Qambathi Mountain Lodge in the Kamberg, we found it nothing short of magic. The food was exceptional, with bespoke five-course dinners that change each night, delicious drinks, and continental breakfasts. There's also a swimming pool, mountain views, and a quiet atmosphere. The lodge is a lovely example of Stephen and Nadia Maritz's hard work and vision. They've turned an old farmstead into a bespoke five-bedroom boutique lodge that feels luxurious but personal from the moment you arrive. Lindani, Chef Emma, and the rest of the staff looked after us warmly and made everything effortless and memorable. If you need fresh air, room to think, or time to breathe, this is a special place. Thank you to the team for such thoughtful hospitality. We'll be back in winter, when the fireplaces are lit and it's cozy and snug.

Horseback riding among the beautiful Appaloosa horses and nature was a real highlight. The farm animals, the peaceful surroundings, and dear Milo, who was still there then and has sadly passed away since, made the visit even more special. We were there for my 30th birthday on the 22nd of October 2023, and a year later the memory still feels close enough that I wanted to write about it. The crew's hospitality was heartwarming, and every breakfast, lunch, and dinner was freshly made with so much care and professionalism. From the moment we arrived, the place felt authentic and peaceful. The food, views, energy, and whole vibe were perfect. It's a lovely place to leave the busy city behind and reconnect with yourself and nature. We still carry those memories with us and hold everyone there close to our hearts. The honeymoon suite was clean and smelled lovely, and the new HOT TUB was a very welcome addition. We were surrounded by nature, Appaloosas, bearded vultures, zebras, springbokkies, rooibokkies, and mountains, which made for one of our best romantic birthday weekends. The staff welcomed us warmly, with tasty homemade iced tea, and the tranquility and impeccable service made it such an intriguing experience. The food was robust, and hats off to chef Nqobile, who treated us to top-class fine dining and delighted our taste buds at every meal. Wow, what a weekend. I'd HIGHLY recommend Qambathi to anyone seeking absolute bliss. ~Angela
