Gerry was a wonderful host, always friendly and glad to share local tips so you can make the most of your visit. The cottage is on a secure gated property, with lush gardens, a clean pool, and a bar area. We were three, a couple and a friend, and stayed two nights in the two-bedroom cottage. The rooms were roomy, comfortable, and well equipped with a fridge freezer, single burner electric cooktop, toaster, kettle, crockery, cutlery, glassware, and basic tea and coffee supplies. Daily housekeeping was a nice bonus. We could walk to shops and places to eat in the town centre, so the location was excellent. A terrific choice for an Oudtshoorn stay.

After a hot day visiting several local attractions, we cooled off in the very clean pool. We stayed a second night too, and the bed was very comfortable. Jerry had given us leaflets and all the information we needed to explore the area. In the evening we used the bar and enjoyed chatting with him about the region, which he knows well. He greeted us warmly, showed us to a well-equipped room, and was very accommodating. Breakfast had lots of options, was nicely presented, and tasted delicious. The B&B is peaceful, close to town but set back from the main road. Two of the town’s best restaurants were a short walk away. I’d thoroughly recommend Gum Tree Guest House.

Gerry, the hands-on owner, is friendly, and I’ll always stay here when I can. It’s an immaculate, charming B&B in a quiet, green part of Oudsthoorn, with lovely rooms and gardens, a pool, and mountain views. The spacious rooms have crisp linen and comfortable beds, plus a small fridge, TV, wifi, coffee station, hairdryer, aircon, and fan. There’s safe parking, restaurants are a five-minute walk away, and breakfast is excellent. Highly recommended.

The breakfast was delicious, the place is so cute, and parking was easy. Gerry was fabulous company and went above and beyond with recommendations and vouchers for places nearby. Thanks to him, we had our best time at an ostrich farm and got to feed giraffes, an experience we didn’t know was possible. This was our best stay in two weeks in SA.

Gumtree service really went the extra mile. We’d driven dusty roads the day before, then woke up to find our car perfectly clean and shiny. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, the pool area is lovely, and the care and service are excellent. Breakfast was excellent too.
