The quiet poolside moment, with birdsong and mountains all around, was one of my favorite parts. My son had a great time feeding and petting the animals, and there are plenty of activities for grown-ups too. Ria made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived and went out of her way to make the visit special. We loved the juicy burgers, and Mrs Muller makes fresh Roosterkoek every day. The restaurant shop has the basics, snacks, and little treats you might need. The Congo caves are just a stone's throw away. From our deck we could see the lovely mountains and hear birds and farm animals in the morning. I even found Fiela se Kind, a favorite from long ago, in the bedside drawer. We had such a good time and would love to come back.

The kids were happy with the camel rides, and there are plenty of activities to keep them busy while you wait or unwind. We ordered food and drinks in the shop, then they brought everything to our table. The ostrich burgers are a favorite of ours, and the memorabilia are reasonably priced. The manageress and staff were friendly and checked in regularly. It’s a good stop after visiting the Cango Caves.

The food was okay, but the tour was a rough experience. We had to stand on an exposed hill for 40 minutes in 40 degree heat while the guide talked kak. My friend got sick from the heat, but was still expected to stay and listen. Bottled water cost R20, which felt far too expensive, and the wifi wasn't reliable enough for me to message my family. I was 13, weighed 90kg and was 1,75m tall when I accidentally broke the bed frame. I offered a simple way to fix it, but felt shamed. Then a woman I didn't know complained that I was too old to use the seesaw. I felt watched and followed, though I didn't know who she was. She seemed important to herself and the staff, but never introduced herself. I felt judged and stalked, and the staff encouraged it. They acted as if they didn't believe I was 13 and spoke to me like I was obviously disabled or something. I felt singled out and picked on. The people there, including the old lady in the blue floral dress, acted like they ran their own kingdom and treated people like servants. It felt like the staff were trying to suck money out of us. And to you, the lady in the blue floral dress who seemed to own the place: what you said was disrespectful. You wouldn't have spoken to me that way if my Mother had been there. You're adults and I'm a child. Please remember that next time.

The kids had a blast, and breakfast and lunch were really tasty. We stayed overnight at Wilgewandel, which is very close to the Cango Caves. It's a great family spot for little ones, with animals to feed, camel rides, and both fast and slow slides. The activities are very affordable.

Everything was outdoors, which made all the activities lots of fun. It's a 10/10 for families travelling with kids aged 0-13. There's plenty to do, the animals are a hit, and the facilities are well kept. A wonderful place for a family outing.
