Thabile Lodge

We had a wonderful family stay. The lodge is beautiful, and the whole team were welcoming and attentive. We especially enjoyed unwinding beside the pleasantly heated pool with delicious drinks. We’d happily come back.

On 9/02.26 I called Thabile Lodge because I’m running the Cango Caves Marathon at the end of the month. I needed to check the distance to the caves and what food was available, since runners can’t just eat anything the night before a 42.2km race. Hennie answered. From the start, he sounded as if he were doing me a favour. When I asked a couple of questions, he said rudely that I should book somewhere in town because I sounded “difficult”, even though he’d told me there was one room available. Getting basic information felt like pulling teeth. I felt judged and as though he’d decided I wasn’t good enough or worthy to stay. It was completely disappointing in 2026, and a poor first impression from the person who handles first contact. I hope someone in charge talks to Hennie or makes a change. He needs some customer service training and experience. Send him to JHB, I guarantee he won’t come back with that attitude. If Hennie is in charge, I hope people call out his arrogance and lack of hospitality. I wonder why he chose to treat me poorly that afternoon. If zero stars were an option, that’s what I’d give, because I wasn’t even given a chance to stay.

The hosts were very welcoming, and so were the dogs. The rooms were clean and up to standard, and I enjoyed my stay. Try Len's gin mix.

What a find! We had our children visiting from the UK and, with limited time, chose Oudtshoorn for a nice African experience. Thabile Lodge was fab in every way. We absolutely loved our stay. Thank you, Thabile team ❤️
