The shower and toilet were dirty, the showerhead was broken, and the shower floor was in poor condition. There was no detergent to clean with, and the kitchen utensils couldn’t be used. Dust and dirt were everywhere, including on the unclean bedding and pillows. The pillows were so flat we woke with sore necks. We also didn’t have the promised Wi-Fi or a TV, which made an already uncomfortable stay worse. For the price, this wasn’t worth it. We couldn’t afford different accommodation, so we had to stay, which was frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable stay.

After enjoying our stay here in 2022, we booked again for a family visit in 2023 and found everything just as fantastic. Gertruida is an amazing host, and we loved the comfortable, homely rooms, each with its own character. The bathrooms were spotless and pleasant to use, and the kitchen and cooking facilities had everything we needed. We cooked on the braai in the garden’s lovely shade, and each room had its own screened outdoor sitting area. The succulent garden is a joy, too. High ceilings and darkened windows help keep the rooms cool in the hot Karoo. So much work has gone into making this a brilliant place to stay. Oudtshoorn will always be on our itinerary when we visit South Africa again.

The room was spacious, clean and tidy, and all the facilities we could need were there. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and made it feel like a home away from home. A wonderful stay.

We felt safe both in the parking area and around this part of town. The room was cool and comfortable, a welcome break from the summer heat, and the place itself was peaceful.

A really nice little spot. I'd happily stay here again.
