Contact them before you go, since visits are by appointment only. There’s no restaurant on site, though the tasting includes a standard mini prepacked cheese and cracker platter. The host and owner were amazing. This little place outside Paarl makes some of the best Cabernet Franc I’ve tasted in South Africa. Its granite-rich soil seems to contribute to distinctive Bordeaux blends, and the wines are carefully made. The rose T3 and T3 were a bold attempt at a different style, with a harmonious palate and subtle fruity notes. Definitely worth a visit.

The Protea cottage had a stunning view, and the wine was great. We stayed three nights in September and had a lovely time, but it ended on a bad note: on checkout morning, we found our car had been broken into while parked right outside the cottage, with several items stolen. It’s unsettling to think someone was walking around while we slept. Make sure you remove everything from your car. It would be good if the alarm system had a STAY option so it could be armed while guests are sleeping. Five stars for the venue and wine, but three for security and the lack of warnings.

Dorothee, thank you. The venue has a nice atmosphere and would be great for an intimate function. Khumin and Kord’s food was excellent, and my guests are still talking about the quality and professionalism.

This wasn’t my first visit, and I’m sure it won’t be my last. The cellar smell gets me every time, along with the immaculate barrels, bottles and wooden gift boxes. Alet, the winemaker, guided us brilliantly through the full range. Every wine feels carefully crafted, with a luscious nose, full body and solid structure, and they offer superb value. The Bordeaux and Rhône red blends stood out to me: harmonious and smooth, with more aging potential. The T3 range is a unique tasting experience. Those vintages go back to 2014, yet still taste remarkably fresh. Each bottle is absolute class. Santé!
