The garden was the one nice thing, but this definitely wasn’t five star. There was no air conditioning, and the roof fans were poor. We had to keep the windows closed because of the monkeys. Our room smelled really bad, and there were mice in the roof. The outdoor braai was tiny and flimsy.

A decent place, though it needs some attention to the details. Some of the air conditioners weren’t working, and the Wi-Fi was painfully slow. We asked if they could speed it up for our stay, even offering to pay, but were told no.

For the price, this is the best accommodation in Phalaborwa. Hippo Heaven is tucked away in the bush, and we felt very safe with guards patrolling the estate. The house itself was a five out of five, more than we could have asked for.
