The house itself has a charming feel, and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. Check-in took a while because I had to wait for the host to open the door, but once inside, both the guest house and room felt inviting. The room had what I needed: a desk, a shower bathroom, a fridge with goodies for purchase, reliable Wi-Fi and a TV. It was a pleasant stay.

The free breakfast was a lovely bonus, and the accommodation itself was pleasant. Parking is outside, which made me a little uneasy as a traveller from Gauteng, though it seemed safe all the same.

We arrived late and found that the room had two single beds, even though we had booked a separate room, and our car had to stay on the street. The security beams were there but switched off. We said we would stay that night and leave in the morning. The housekeeper said we could move out, but the owner refused to refund the unused nights, despite Lavender guest house's Hospitality Promise to make things right or not charge for that part of a stay. Later the housekeeper offered to move her own car from the garage, but our LDV wouldn't fit. Nothing was resolved, and we still haven't received the balance back. This was not right.

The place made a great impression, and the service was good from start to finish. Check-in was easy, and the staff were friendly.

The staff and owner were so friendly, and breakfast was delicious. It felt warm and luxurious, like being at home away from home. Definitely worth a stop if you're travelling to White River or Nelspruit.
