Seven Wonders B&B

The location is great, and the staff were amazing people. The rooms were clean, though there was a smell. We had to wait for our room to be confirmed because the receptionist couldn't find our booking. Overall, I would recommend the place.

You have to call to get water turned on, even for the toilet, and there isn't even drinking water left because they don't have any. When it does come on, the shower is cold since there's no hot water in the geyser. I checked out the next day and asked for a refund, but the owner refused. From my first impression onward, this was a big no-go. Skip it if you need somewhere to stay.

The room was clean, and the terrace looked out over the garden. Still, we wouldn't stay here again. There was no air conditioning in the Drakensberg room, despite it being promised on Booking.com, and the room was very warm. The loud fan didn't help. We were told to keep the terrace door shut because of monkeys and other animals. The room was beside reception, where the generally friendly and helpful staff, three young women, spent time talking and watching movies on their phones. After 22:30 I asked them three times to keep it down because we wanted to sleep. They argued instead of apologizing, so we didn't sleep very well. The bathroom sink was tiny, with nowhere to put our things.

Seven wonders is beautiful, peaceful and very clean, but the service we received was beyond disappointing. We arrived shortly before 8pm and weren't let in until loadshedding ended. The next day, we had to use our phones for light in the room, and there was no breakfast because the food isn't kept on the premises. None of this had been explained before we arrived at the B&B. We were told staff wouldn't attend to us after 0930hrs because it was winter and they were already sleeping. That made getting the gate opened when we returned from outings, or having food warmed, a problem. I don't understand a 0930hrs rule for opening the gate when guests come back from exploring another town. When we called, they would immediately hang up, which was rude. Next time I'm going to the South Coast, I'll stay somewhere else.
