City Lodge Hotel Hatfield

Mdu Mnyakeni, the GM, made us feel confident from the moment we met him. He was warm, professional, helpful, and understanding. City Lodge has a real gem in him. Thanks to Mdu and the whole team for such a successful event. Everyone involved can be proud of what they pulled off for more than 200 guests. They turned the usual dining area into a beautiful banquet hall, with crisp white tablecloths, black overlays, gold underplates, and starched linen napkins. It must have taken a lot of work to move all the regular furniture, and the result was incredible. The venue felt clean, tasteful, and welcoming. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the chef and kitchen staff deserve compliments. Everything ran smoothly from the time we arrived. There was secure underground parking and security staff. A special thanks to Tshepo from security, who helped me get out of a really tight spot after a latecomer parked me in.

A big cockroach in our room one morning gave us quite a fright. I suspect it may have come from the kitchen on our floor, though the reception guy removed it quickly and with a smile. Great service. Apart from that, everything else was spotless, and the hotel felt safe. We stayed here years ago, and the revamp is amazing. The location is very handy, just a short walk from the Waterfront and close to Cape Town shops, restaurants, and attractions. Our room was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. The staff were lovely, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. Breakfast was amazing, with plenty of fresh choices and a relaxed feel. For the price and location, it’s good value.

I was at City Lodge Hotel, Hatfield from 11 November to 14 November and again from 17 November to 19 November 2025. I enjoyed both my Hatfield stay and my time at City Lodge Hotel in Cape Town, and hope to stay again if I visit in future. The location and service were excellent. I could use the kitchen to warm food I’d bought outside, and they supplied a plate and cutlery. Palesa at reception was especially wonderful. She helped me set up Bolt for local trips, which saved me a good amount compared with Uber and renting a vehicle. She also helped me book City Lodge Hotel in Capte Town through the website and get a good discount. I’m grateful to Palesa and all the staff who helped make my stays go well. Thank you all.

The staff were the highlight for me, friendly and helpful from check-in through the rest of the stay. At breakfast they even made mushrooms for me when I asked. The rooms are tidy and on the small side, but have what you need to be comfortable. It was quick and easy to get an Uber from the drop-off, about a 2km ride. On-site parking felt safe, though the spiral up through the garage is very tight. I’d park first and Uber to the stadium instead of tackling it after the game. I had a great stay and would happily book here again.
