Pure Joy Guest Lodge

The food isn't tasty, and I'd rather have self-service. At Pure Joy they always serve us. The last time I went, we were given dry wors and steak.

We booked for 3days, and the whole stay was a disaster, from the welcome drinks and lunch to the rooms and bedding. Towels weren't changed from day one, the bedding was old and the bathrooms dirty. The website is all false advertising. Supper was spoiled chicken stew with no other food options, and the juice was tasteless with no choice of drinks. Most people had runny tummy. Nothing here was good, and R2800 was a total waste. I'd never recommend it to anyone 🤮🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮

The birds wandering around were a lovely highlight, and the lodge was peaceful, comfortable, with friendly, helpful staff. I came for a work function and enjoyed my stay. My colleague's upstairs room was humid because of the thatch roof, so if heat bothers you, choose downstairs. My room was clean, though I only spotted a spiderweb in the shower on my second visit. Bugs don't usually bother me, but finding one in such a vulnerable space was unsettling. The food was okay, with good portions, but not five-star cuisine.

A lovely, quiet lodge with great staff, especially if you're after an outdoor, off-the-grid stay. I was there for training with colleagues, and quite a few people didn't enjoy the food. It could be better.
