Karoo View Cottages

We had a fantastic meal, especially the lamb, which was cooked perfectly and paired with wine. The rooms were spacious and clean, with lovely mountain views. Definitely recommended.

The views were breathtaking, and the cottage had so much to make a stay comfortable. There was a mirror beside the hairdryer, plus an iron and ironing board, and the heating system throughout was excellent. One of the best-equipped cottages I’ve stayed in for a long time.

Our unit was spotless, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had just about anything you might need. The host was genuinely welcoming and accommodating, and we enjoyed our stay. The communal pool is lovely, and two of the units also have their own plunge pools. The aircon didn’t cool our room very well and could probably use an upgrade.

We booked Karoo View Cottages in November 2024 for 24-26 December. Not long afterward, my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I told the establishment on 9 December that we could no longer use the booking, and they said they would keep the payment as a credit for later. By March 2025, my husband was doing worse, and I asked for a refund because travelling was no longer possible for us. Howard said we would only get half of what we had paid back. I understand this was outside anyone’s control, and we gave them enough notice to offer the booking to other guests. We had also supported this local business often, referred new customers, and bought their products. Our lives have changed dramatically, and I don’t expect everyone to understand, but this was a deeply disappointing, gut-punching experience that I never expected. Good luck with your business, Howard. We wish you the best.
