Morrells Farmhouse

The breakfast is a must. We got to begin a beautiful day while getting ready for a friend's wedding nearby. The place has a striking interior and aesthetic, and the staff were helpful throughout our stay. Keen to come back!

The gardens and venue are beautiful, but I was disappointed given its 5 star rating. I ordered iced tea and was told they don't serve it. The food was lovely, though some of the crockery was chipped, and the cake tiers wobbled so much that passing them around felt risky, in case the food fell off. The waiters kept taking glasses and plates before we were finished. More than once, I had to say I was still eating or drinking, and my glass was whisked away while I was still drinking. We ordered a birthday cake for the 60th birthday celebration. It looked good, but tasted disgusting and was hard as a brick. I emailed them with my complaints and still haven't heard back. Sadly, I don't think I'll return for another function.

The staff were fantastic and the food was great. It's a lovely venue for any sort of event, and stepping inside feels like getting away from Johannesburg's bustle to a quiet spot in the country.

The chef is very obliging and can come up with a meal that suits what you expect, even if the menu won't be to everyone's taste. The rooms are cozy, the staff friendly, and the service excellent. The estate is beautiful and well maintained.
