Bono Luxury Guesthouse

I booked three nights for work, expecting the room to look like the advertised pictures, but it seemed poorly maintained and nothing like them. Maybe it used to be that way. Apparently I didn’t answer my phone to confirm I was still coming, so they gave me an outside room overlooking a JoJo tank and a pile of rubbish. Breakfast and dinner were meant to be included in my booking, but they didn’t know about the dinner. I had to sort out food for myself that night, even though I was travelling for work and didn’t know the area. I was very disappointed with the whole experience.

We booked 7 of the 9 rooms available and were shocked when we arrived. This is nothing like the pictures online. It’s old, poorly maintained and not a luxury guesthouse. The rooms and bathrooms were very dated, some taps didn’t work properly, and some of the dusty bed linen wasn’t clean. The house had a strange old smell. Outside was neglected too. The small Lapa had an old couch, with old items dumped behind it. It was an eyesore. One room’s aircon made noise all night, but it was so hot that we had to leave it on. The first night, the woman who lives on site had her boyfriend over, and his car alarm went off every 10 minutes from midnight to 2 am. We barely slept. The next night, someone else was on site, and their visitor kept hooting at the gate at 10 pm. It was a very disturbing and unpleasant stay, and I felt uneasy the whole time. It felt like backpacker accommodation. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for more than a one star stay.

The girls and I stayed there last weekend and it felt like home. Mama Lindi gave us a warm welcome and made sure we were comfortable. Her service was great. The rooms were clean, and the smart TVs worked.

A lovely place with amazing service. Mama Linda, the service champion and floor manager, is really great. This place is worth every cent.
