It was affordable, but I wouldn’t stay again. The place smelled bad at night, and the windows only opened partway. The shower pressure and taps needed constant adjusting, and I nearly burned myself a couple of times. I’d booked a BNB, but there was no breakfast, and there was a file of rules, including that guests apparently aren’t allowed after 8pm. The rooms also seemed identical whether you booked deluxe or standard. Most concerning, staff entered my room while I was out without telling me in advance, after I’d just unpacked and left valuables on the bed. When I raised it, the owner said cleaning happens daily, insisted her staff wouldn’t steal, brushed off my concern, and said she wouldn’t tell them to clean or enter the room again. Please take caution.

I’d been visiting since 2018, but this time was terrible. I booked by phone and the man who answered, claiming to be the owner, was very rude. When I arrived, he was so drunk he couldn’t stand or speak properly, and called his son to check me in. The place has changed a lot, and I wouldn’t advise anyone to go there.

It’s affordable, with nice, clean rooms and great service. The location is superb, making it easy to get around Johannesburg. I really enjoyed the stay and would visit again.

There was a bad smell, and I didn’t like the place much.
