MINT Hotel 84 on Katherine

The lukewarm water was frustrating at 2 a.m. when I was trying to shower before bed. I was too exhausted to deal with maintenance then. I’ve booked the beach unit and am waiting to move into it, so I hope things improve. My work is demanding and I need sleep. Getting the stay arranged was already a struggle. Before arriving in JHB, I called and sent WhatsApps many times without getting proper help. With one person at the desk trying to handle guests, calls, and messages, I didn’t get properly checked in until a crazy hour in the evening. That felt very unprofessional after a long business trip. Please have enough staff to deal with everything. I was waiting for my unit to be moved to another room in the same building, and I’d specifically asked not to be disturbed about checkout because I couldn’t leave until the other unit was clean and ready. But someone knocked on my door anyway. It seemed nobody had read my message or checked the bookings I’d made.

The hotel team helped arrange a surprise engagement for my partner, and she said yes. We had an amazing weekend, and I’d highly recommend staying here. Thanks to everyone at the hotel and management.

The food at Pablo was lovely and generously portioned, for both dinner and breakfast. The restaurant serves the MINT Hotel and also seems to operate independently, I think. Its infinity pool overlooks Katherine Street and looks beautiful lit up at night. There’s also an outdoor pool and jacuzzi, which other guests were enjoying. Sandton mall is about 1.4 km away, roughly a 15-20 minute walk depending on your pace. Our Executive Suite was spotless and smelled fresh. The bedroom was roomy, with a comfortable king bed and good-quality linen. The large bathroom came with hand and body lotion, and there was aircon in the room. Conveniently, both sides of the bed had three-prong, USB, and two-prong plugs. The suite also had a small lounge, a four-seat dining area, a little kitchen, and dishwashing soap, though we didn’t use those since we booked dinner, bed, and breakfast. We only stayed one night. We’d booked last minute through booking.com, and I don’t think they’d received all the details yet. The friendly receptionist handled it professionally and upgraded us because of the wait. My husband and I had a delightful time, and I’d recommend the hotel to family or friends looking for a night out in Sandton.

The hotel is close to the city centre and most things you might need. Sandton Mall is nearby, around 1 km away. You can also visit the iconic statue of The Father Of The Nation the Greatest NELSON ROLIHLAHLA MANDELA (Nelson Mandela). We had a really enjoyable stay, and it was a pleasure being here.
