Park Inn Sandton

The overall service was great, and the place had a good atmosphere. Rooms were clean and tidy, and breakfast and the meals we ordered were good. But on checkout day someone woke us at 8 am to clean the room, way too early. After a late night or early morning, we needed that extra sleep.

The room was clean and okay, and the amenities were fine, but the staff were terrible. Security was rude when I checked in because I'd parked in a spot they were saving for a friend. I guess their friends matter more than customers. The front desk lost my payment, so I had to pay again. Two days later, nobody had helped or apologized for the hassle. They act like they're doing me a favour. Dinner at the restaurant was good, but breakfast was a nightmare. I had to take cutlery from another table, staff showed no basic manners, and someone cleaned my table while I was still eating. The breakfast quality isn't worth the price.

The pool area was clean and comfortable, and security was alert and on point. The hotel is beautiful and well located, with Sandton mall not far away. They were sweet enough to arrange an extra bed for us at no extra cost, and the drivers were very friendly. But the shared platter was a joke, really only enough for one, and the price meant we couldn't buy more than one. The hotel is quite pricey, and the shuttle wasn't punctual. Once we waited two hours for a pickup, which was not good at all.

Even after my review, the reservation manager still hasn't called, and management hasn't emailed to ask how they could improve or compromise. I'm looking to book a hotel again next week, yet they reply with no real intention of bettering themselves. Absolutely pathetic. Please email me the board's mail addresses. I wouldn't book here again. The room was neat, but poorly designed, with no bathroom door and very cramped space. Staff weren't helpful with my booking issue, and the managers didn't care enough to give me the time of day. I waited day in and day out for the Reservation Manager to call, but she never did. They didn't tell us before arrival that the gym was being renovated, and they wouldn't meet me halfway over my booking issue. I was very disappointed and would rather pay extra to stay at Garden Court. The rooms are clean, though the cleaners don't get everything. The amenities are poor for the price, and they need to learn management skills. Only consider this place if you're desperate.
