It's a lovely place to stay, and Joyce and Memory are great. My one complaint is that the geysers are sometimes switched off. A few times, the water in my room was cold when I needed to shower.

Compared with Cresta, which I rated five stars, this would get two. If you want somewhere quiet and safe in a great neighborhood where nobody will find you, this place fits. But if you're after luxury, room service, or a range of breakfast options, it isn't for you.

10/10
I felt comfortable right away after the friendly welcome. The room was tastefully furnished, comfy, and had everything on hand, with a divine bathroom. The communal area was classy and comfortable, and the river is beautiful. Staff and management were helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was a superb English breakfast, cooked just how I wanted it. I wish I could've stayed longer.

The view was gorgeous, and we had a wonderful three-night stay. Breakfast was delicious, the service was excellent, and the rooms were clean with lovely decor. The TV had very few options, though. I’d happily recommend Thatchfoord Lodge.

10/10
Joyce, the owner, was especially accommodating and went out of her way for special requests. We loved the homely feel at Thatchfoord, along with the spacious, comfortable rooms and generous breakfast. The staff were friendly, and the riverside setting was peaceful while still being close to busy Sandton.
