Terrace Lofts

The Wi-Fi didn’t work, and I was told they were waiting for a new router, which still hadn’t arrived by the time I left. The gate didn’t work either. Inside, the room needs serious attention: the cupboards are visibly water-damaged, a stair leading to the loft was loose, and the small stove was rusty and dirty, so I couldn’t see how anyone could cook on it. When the power goes off, there’s no water, so you have to wait until late at night and hope it comes back on to shower. The owner acknowledged that power cuts are a constant problem, but there was no generator or other backup. I was left with half a candle and a small torch that barely worked. This was very disappointing. I was there for work and couldn’t get anything done because of the conditions during outages.

We had to call management to meet us and hand over a key, and when we were leaving the next day, nobody had told us where to leave it. I called several times to ask, but the phone went to voicemail. There was no staff or management around. Our room was neat and the bedding satisfactory, but both bedside lamps were blown, there was no toilet paper, and a damp, mouldy smell. We also heard dripping all night and couldn’t find where it was coming from. The TV wouldn’t respond to the remote. Meals, including the English breakfast advertised on the website, couldn’t be arranged because management wasn’t there. I stayed one night, on 25 Feb 2017, and was disappointed. This place could be great, but it lacks proper management.

We came back to the guest house at 10pm to find the doors open and the place dark. It felt very unsafe. The rooms weren’t up to standard and had a damp smell, and there was no management around to help. It was a very bad experience for my family and me. I hope they improve their standards.

The staff were friendly, but the place wasn’t suitable for older people. My wife had to sleep downstairs in a single bed while I slept upstairs. It was very hot, with no air conditioning, just noisy fans, and the lights didn’t work.
