We chose the Chardonnay room for our two-night honeymoon at Lovane Boutique Wine Estate & Guest House, and the wine-varietal room names were a nice touch. It’s an intimate, charming place on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, with lovely views of the hills from the first-floor rooms. If you can, pick one with a bathtub for an extra-special stay. The property is quaint and picturesque, and has a personal, peaceful feel that suits a couple or solo traveller wanting to slow down. It’s quite different from the large estates that feel like luxury resorts. We appreciated the complimentary wine tasting and the welcome note with a bottle of their reserve red. Breakfast was fresh and well made, especially the cheese omelette, though the selection was limited. Service is minimal, and the restaurant closes at 5 pm. There’s no room service later in the day, so we ordered dinner through Uber Eats. A warm, scenic boutique stay if quiet charm and views matter more to you than full-service luxury.

The wine tasting was very personal and suited every taste, with a good, extensive selection. We also stayed overnight: the rooms were clean, lovely, and quiet. The furnishings were a little dated, but the country style fits the place and adds charm. Breakfast was homemade, delicious, and offered plenty of choice. The farm has a unique, beautiful setting, and its family-run atmosphere made us feel welcome. It has a genuine warmth and individuality, unlike the large, touristy wineries in Stellenbosch that are overrun with visitors. We were extremely satisfied and look forward to coming back.

A quaint, well managed spot that suits a solo traveller or a family. I’ll definitely return with my family. The wine tasting is free, and there are some nice little touches in the rooms. Treat yourself to the room with a bath, it’s a divine spoil!

Our second visit, and I won’t hesitate to come again. This is a real gem, and the host makes the wine tasting even more perfect. It was the best tasting we’ve ever had, with truly exceptional wines. A must visit!

For a small local winery with a personal, authentic feel, this is a must visit. The bigger wineries are everywhere around here, but this place takes a more individual approach. Definitely get the chocolate pairing!
