Vindoux Tree House Guest Farm and Day Spa

A sunny lunch under the trees after gin tasting made for a really peaceful afternoon.

Vindoux is a working wine farm with other wine farms all around the Tulbagh area. We had a perfect stay in one of the beautifully decorated, spacious tree houses, with lovely views. There’s a spa on site with a wonderful spa bath. Take a stroll by the river and through the vines, or visit nearby Ceres. Winter is a good time to go, and you might even catch some snow. And remember, Tulbagh’s Christmas in July season is not to be missed.

The hot tub has potential, and the price is affordable, but our session was a waste of R200. We booked 40 minutes at Vindoux Spa’s starlight hot tub for my partner’s birthday, hoping to enjoy the experience. The water was excruciatingly hot, so at least half our time was interrupted. Staff added cold water, but it barely helped, and we later had to add more ourselves, cutting into the session again. It felt like sitting in a sauna, so we couldn’t use the jets or bubbles. No extra time was added. When we raised the problem while paying, the staff member offered excuses and stories instead of listening. We clearly said the water was too hot and the experience wasn’t enjoyable or worth it. I’m from Cape Town and review places as part of what I do, and this was the worst hot tub I’ve experienced.

The views were amazing, with so many birds around, and we found the escape into nature really relaxing. We took a long walk through the orchards and an energetic cycle along the back routes. As Capetonians, we especially appreciated the large spa bath. We felt pampered and well rested, and will definitely be back.
