The mountain scenery is beautiful and peaceful, and the restaurant team were friendly. The food was nicely prepared, too. The rooms were reasonably clean, though the pillows themselves could use a better clean even if the cases looked fresh. The beds felt very stiff and uncomfortable. It might work if you need to stay near activities in the area, but I wouldn’t choose it for a fun trip or a longer visit. Would I return? Probably not, unless it was a last resort.

We were nearby for a wedding and suddenly needed somewhere to stay on Sunday afternoon, around 15:30. We called Magoebaskloof Mountain Lodge, and George said he could help. We met him at reception, where he was welcoming and talked us through several options. His service was especially good for a Sunday afternoon. After settling in, we ate at the restaurant, where the waiter was also excellent and made an extra effort to meet our needs. Thanks to Magoebaskloof Mountain Lodge, George, and the team.

We stopped at Makgobaskloef Mountain Lodge for Saturday lunch on 2026/01/03, and the whole restaurant visit was a great experience. The food tasted amazing and came out promptly. Everyone we dealt with, from reception and security to the waiter and chef, was welcoming and attentive. We hope to book a weekend or week-long stay sometime soon.

The mountain views made the stay feel peaceful and scenic, and the food was delicious. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive throughout. I had a lovely time, though there are a few things to address: the tap and toilet water was brown, and the bedroom carpet set off my sinuses. Replacing it with a more allergy-friendly floor would help. Extra blankets in winter would also make guests more comfortable.

We had a comfortable room in a stunning mountain setting, and the lodge was spotless. The food and service were handled with real care. What stood out most was how friendly the staff were and how much they did to make us feel welcome. Our overnight stay at Magoebaskloof Mountain Lodge was unforgettable, and we can’t wait to come back.
