A decent place for a family break or a night out with the boys. The apartments need updating and a general clean, especially for what you pay per night.

Apartment 102 at The Oyster was the most disappointing and unacceptable place I've ever stayed. It was in an appalling condition, with serious health and safety risks. The cleanliness was horrifying. There were cockroaches throughout the apartment, which points to a severe, long-standing pest and hygiene problem. The carpets were visibly filthy and looked as if they hadn't been properly cleaned or washed in a very long time. The air conditioning units were leaking water inside. It dripped straight onto electrical plug points, creating a dangerous electrical hazard and a risk of fire or shock that needs immediate professional attention. With the infestation, unsanitary conditions, and electrical danger, the apartment is unfit for rental. It's shocking that guests are offered a unit in this state. I'd strongly advise potential renters to avoid Apartment 102 at The Oyster. This stay was truly terrible, and the unit doesn't deserve even one star. I have photos and videos of everything. The owner was utterly rude and has no communication skills. Instead of apologizing, he sent back a threatening email.

It's certainly good value for money, with lots of space and great views from every bedroom. The apartment is serviced, but they don't do the dishes or provide fresh towels often. That's a minor downside next to all the positives.

You can walk to Umlanga or head down to the beach from this spacious apartment, which has comfortable beds and a great balcony. The lounge and main bedroom both have stunning sea views. Security at the property is great, and Umlanga itself is a safe area to visit. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that the apartment could use an upgrade.
