Being only a three-minute walk from the beach and good value for money, Flamingo Rocks worked wonderfully for me. I had no complaints about the missing sea view: the mall blocking it was built after the guest house. I loved every minute and will definitely return. The rooms are well equipped, the bathrooms lovely, and the staff made me feel entirely at home. I especially enjoyed the breakfasts. The food was great, with filter coffee, two juices, instant coffee and tea, pastries, fruit and yoghurt, and cereal. They also make a full English breakfast to order. It's not haute cuisine, but I enjoyed it immensely. All rooms have air conditioning and fans. I was nosey and checked.

The room was tidy and clean, and everything looked great. The hostess was very friendly and looked after our needs at breakfast. Flamingo Rocks is right in the heart of town, so all the shops and restaurants are within a five-minute walk.

Umhlamga is lively, with lots going on, but this guesthouse doesn't fit the town. It's old and dated, more like a two- or three-star place. Breakfast was okay.
