Hilton Garden Inn Umhlanga Arch

I stayed four nights and felt I got more than I paid for, since the price was really good. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and they arranged a first floor room at my request before we arrived. The heated pool was awesome. The gym was a standard hotel gym, with plenty of machines to keep you going temporarily. There are really nice restaurants with a range of food just outside the hotel. Awesome place, well worth it.

We recently held a breakfast event in the hotel’s private dining room. The buffet was very good, with lots of tasty choices. The initial room setup wasn’t ideal, but the staff reorganized it and took good care of us throughout. The air conditioning wasn’t working, which was uncomfortable on a hot Durban day, though the team tried to help with fans. It was a positive experience overall, and we’d consider the venue for future events.

Friendly staff and comfortable rooms, with adequate facilities. The breakfast buffet was good, as expected, and the food I eventually received from room service was tasty and well prepared. But room service was slow: it took 30 minutes to tell me some ingredients for my order weren’t available. On day 2 of 5, housekeeping removed the face cloth and didn’t replace it. I reported it to customer services at 6PM, and by 9PM there was still no service, so I gave up. Some good points, but quite a few basic things need improvement.

The airport and parking were easy to get to, which was handy. The room itself was probably the nicest I've stayed in in South Africa, with comfortable beds, a useful desk for work, and all the amenities I needed. The AC kept the room cool, even though the lobby felt warm.
