The safari drives were the real magic for us, with two each day and close views of the Big 5 thanks to ranger Mike, who’s also a professional photographer, and tracker Chris. Back at the lodge, the house staff cleaned twice daily, and every meal felt different, thoughtfully prepared, and delicious. We especially liked the ostrich and duck, and wine and spirits were included too. Our butler Andrew was outstanding, Milly worked wonders on my back and legs with her massage, and Tania, Mike’s wife and the lodge GM, greeted us with a steady smile. The attentive staff were never intrusive, and staying at such a high-end luxury resort made for an awesome trip. A must do!

Elephants wandered past our porch while we were unpacking, just 8-10 of them and less than 50 feet away. That first glimpse set the tone for our stay at Simbambili. The rooms were beautifully arranged, and the food each night was outstanding, better than some meals we’d had in bigger cities. The staff were exceptional from start to finish: Caroline at check-in, game drivers Mike and Solemon, our butler Nyko, the room-cleaning team, and manager(s) Tania, who checked in regularly. We even saw the Big 5 and more in our first two drives. I’d been on safari over a decade ago and thought I knew what to expect, but nothing prepared me for the view from the common area over a plateau and watering hole. From the welcome at the lodge entrance to the whole stay, Simbambili takes a safari and makes it a five-star experience in the bush. Safari can be cheap and feel that way, but this lodge does everything outstandingly.

Our honeymoon at Simbambili was fabulous, and the lodge felt wonderfully luxurious. Doctor and tracker Service made an incredible team, and their skills are why we saw the big 5. Drives and meals were timed so well that we came back to warm towels and surprise drinks each time. The food was fresh and very good, and every night brought a different meal that felt carefully planned. Stan made sure we had what we needed throughout our stay. We also liked having the on site gym. The place really does think through the details. Thanks to the whole staff at Simambili for such a wonderful stay.

The game viewing was amazing. We had special sightings of leopard, lion, wild dogs and lots of smaller creatures. Solomon and tracker Roy were a great team, and Solomon shared so much about wildlife while doing his best to help with our photographic ambitions on the drives. He also made everyone feel safe, including people new to game viewing. I spent 5 wonderful days at Simbambili Lodge. It’s well placed in the Sabi area, with a busy waterhole visible from the main deck and a dry riverbed in front of the suites where buck and smaller animals such as porcupine often pass. My suite was spacious, with a fridge, coffee machine and kettle. I loved the outdoor shower and daybed. The staff were friendly, helpful, forthcoming and informative. My butler, Rich, was caring and efficient, and the hospitality and service were outstanding. I’m very grateful to the whole team for this experience and hope to visit again.

My son and I spent last week at Simbambili Lodge, and it was one of the best weeks of our lives. We saw so many different animals in their natural habitat on some incredible game drives. Our ranger was really knowledgeable and friendly, and the accommodation, food and staff were excellent. I can’t speak highly enough of the experience. You simply have to go, and we’re hoping to return ourselves!
