Bara Guesthouse

We couldn't sleep because the owner's dogs barked through the night, despite the property saying no animals were allowed. The owner or manager was extremely unfriendly and made me feel like our stay was a nuisance to her. The rooms weren't clean, and we were given just one towel for two people. There was no proper parking either, and before 6 a.m. we were woken up and asked to move our car so another guest could get out. The unit was advertised as self-catering, but there was no cutlery, crockery, pots, or pans. We found one glass for two guests, two coffee cups, and no teaspoons. The cupboards were dirty and had no shelves, and there was only one clothes hanger. I wouldn't recommend this terrible property to anyone.

I was left to sleep in my car on 31/08/2024, with no alternative accommodation arranged. The owner had overbooked and seemed disorganized, and told me I could go sleep somewhere else. If you book at Bara Guesthouse, there's a 100% chance you might not get a room, and the owner doesn't care.

The hosts were caring and made sure we had what we needed. The food was so good that we were never hungry, and the beds and furniture were really comfortable and felt high quality. Everything was tidy, and we got far more than I expected for the low price. It was such a lovely stay in Welkom, I'd recommend it to anyone. I'd give it 6/5 if I could.

The whole place was neat and tidy, with secure gated parking. It has a nice setup in one large guest house with four bedrooms, suited to one person or a group. There's a kitchen, dining area, and lounge for self-catering, plus a stocked bar fridge in every room with a good selection of juices and drinks. We got a warm, friendly welcome.
