Namakau Lodge

The lodge sits along Namwala Road, away from the bustle of town, and I came away with a good impression. The rooms are clean and spacious, it’s quiet, and I liked that there’s no bar. The yard isn’t paved, which could be an issue in rainy weather, and the staff could use some training. I didn’t try the food, so can’t comment on it. I’d recommend the place and would come back if I’m in the area again. I hear they’re opening a Livingstone location. Its spot near the roadside is a little tricky, and competition in Livingstone is tough. They’ll need qualified people at least to run the front desk. If they maintain the same standard, they’ve got a chance there and could give Chapa some competition.

You get free breakfast with the accommodation, and for the price it’s not bad. The budget rooms are nice. I’d make other arrangements for meals, though, since I don’t think the lodge restaurant is worth what you pay.

The meals are good, the internet is fast and free, and the place feels safe and private. Everyone was welcoming. These were the best services I’ve experienced in Choma.

It felt like a home away from home, comfortable and warm. The reception was great, and I had a lovely experience.
