The lodge as a whole was terrible. I can accept the electricity and water supply problems, since those are common across the country, but the breakfast wasn’t as advertised. There was no full English breakfast. The continental option was two slices of white bread, with butter and liquid jam available, eggs, and a very small amount of salad. After the first day, we brought our own porridge and sausages, and the kitchen staff heated them for us, for a price.

I found it comfortable enough to spend a few days here, and its location in the center of Livingstone was handy. The rooms were roomy and had air conditioning, and the staff were friendly with good security. The kitchen wasn't open during my stay, so I had to head into town whenever I wanted a meal. I'd still come back.

The food was great, the restaurant was clean, and the staff were really friendly. The bedding was clean too. The grounds are looked after, but the rooms need attention: old fittings don't work, the air conditioners are worn out, and the remotes are dead. There are cockroaches as well. With some repairs, more modern fittings, and proper pest control, this place could feel lively again. It seems to have been a great lodge once, and I think it could get back to that.

The price was good, but I wouldn't tell anyone to spend their hard-earned money here. The poor service isn't excusable, and Livingstone has plenty of other affordable places where you could have a great stay. I left feeling that choosing somewhere cheaper here could cost you the peace and enjoyment of visiting this beautiful town. The Wi-Fi didn't work, and both the breakfast and the other food were horrible when anything was available. The bar was poorly stocked, even basic beers were hard to get. Some staff, like Tina, were very helpful; others were just rude. Maybe it was the time of year when I visited, but I won't be back. Value for money: zero. Stayed December 2016, traveled with family

The main drawback was access: there was no wheelchair entrance to the rooms or utility rooms. I also waited outside for my room to be cleaned after 4 pm. The cleaning staff seemed either overwhelmed or slow, and when I mentioned it to a receptionist, she didn't seem to know it was necessary. The staff were friendly, the room was very clean, and I was comfortable with the bedding. The food I ordered was fairly well prepared, though nothing special. Wi-Fi was decent. The TV had just two preset channels, but they could be changed if requested. I hope to speak with the owner before I leave.
