The Courtyard Hotel Victoria Falls

The staff are great, service is good, and breakfast is mouthwatering. The location is handy for the tourist attractions, so you can avoid spending an arm and a leg on transport. Sometimes you can spot elephants right there. The rooms feel a bit overpriced, though. When the power goes out, water pressure drops and there's no hot shower. The conference rooms are spacious and great, but sit right after the pool, so there are lots of mosquitoes.

It’s a lovely new place to stay on the way to the Victoria Falls, just a few minutes from the City of Livingstone and its everyday business and personal needs. The conference facilities work well for small groups and give people a quiet, peaceful setting for cordial professional engagements.

An incredibly frustrating stay. The place didn't provide the advertised services and amenities, and I'd never EVER pay to stay here again. Staff were friendly, but things weren't handled properly. After housekeeping came, we had no towels or toilet paper. I tried room service twice. Bottled water took 45 minutes, so I had to collect it myself. For an early breakfast before an outing, I confirmed the order with three staff members, then got leftovers wrapped the night before and no drinks. We had to pick those up in the lobby too. The bar and restaurant were very poorly run. On the first night, it took over half an hour to get two drinks, and our third choice was all they could offer because the bar was so poorly stocked. We were the only people there, with two staff working. Dinner was much the same: we were alone, but waited an hour and a half to be served. They didn't stock half the menu items. The 'fresh fruit salad had clearly been sitting in juice for days. For three days running, I was told they had no mangoes for a mango smoothie, though there were literally mangoes on the street outside. I tried the alternative smoothies, but they didn't have any of that fruit either. Water in the courtyard meant the place was riddled with mosquitoes, even after fumigation. The power went out, and they only switched on the generator after complaints. We also had water outages and no hot water for most of our stay. The room phones didn't work, communication around the hotel was abysmal, and the Wi-Fi was very, very slow in most areas. I asked about laundry at 2pm, then housekeeping followed up at 830 when I was already in bed. The list goes on and on.

The rooms were okay, but small for the price, and there were far too many mosquitoes. There are cheaper places nearby with better service.
