Lake Kariba Inns

We had a sunset boat cruise on lake Kariba, which I really enjoyed. The place works well for business or a break, with comfortable rooms, fast internet, excellent customer service and sumptuous meals.

The kids had a memorable time with the pool and boat ride, and the views and atmosphere were beautiful. Our room was clean and spacious enough for all of us. I also appreciated that the marina shop stocked some essentials guests might forget to pack. The food and cleaning need attention, though. My husband enjoyed his meals, but mine wasn’t fresh during our stay, and I got food poisoning, possibly from the rump or the fish. The breakfast bacon was overcooked too. A teacup sat by the pool for our whole stay, and the dining area still had stains from the previous night when we came for lunch, so I ended up cleaning them myself. Some bathrooms weren’t very clean either. Please improve the food and cleaning.

Those sticky pork ribs were really good, the kind of dish you remember. The view over lake Kariba at Lake Kariba inns is so still and breathtaking that the far shore looks almost like a painting. I stayed in a standard room, which was comfortable and neat, though I can’t speak for all the rooms. Service was good enough that I could overlook a few shortcomings, even if it wasn’t top notch.

The heat was like a million degrees, even with the air con. Still, the staff were friendly and ready to help, and the food has usually been on point for me, apart from one day when maybe the chef wasn’t on their game. The place has changed and expanded, which I suppose shows it’s getting more popular. Housekeeping was slow: I left at 7am and got back at 5:30pm while they were still finishing, though they cleaned very well in the end.
