Hwange Safari Lodge

From our room, we had a lovely view straight onto the large waterhole, where animals could come and go freely. We stayed for two nights after being in Victoria Falls, and really enjoyed our first visit to the Hwange Safari Lodge. We also took two game drives from the lodge into Hwange National Park. Both were great, with top service and plenty of animals to see.

Huge herds of elephants visited the busy waterhole during the day and on both evenings while we were having dinner. The private dinner was for my wife's birthday, and the staff communicated wonderfully with us before and during the visit. Thanks to Chef Catherine for the incredible food, Albertina reception for her constant kindness, and Louis, who served us at dinner so politely. Blessing organized our game drives well. The lodge itself is beautiful, with clean, comfortable rooms, great views, well-kept common areas, and a swimming pool. The staff were excellent, and for a safari lodge the price was reasonable. I'd highly recommend staying here in Hwange.

The highlight was our safari with Blessing. We said we were done with the usual sightings and hoped to see more big five animals and cats. At around 5pm, he took us to a viewpoint where we found about a hundred elephants. Then he heard by phone about a cheetah sighting and was excited to track it down. Within a couple of minutes he'd found the cheetahs, and we followed them for a while until our vehicles spooked them. Best safari of our trip. It cost 80 usd pp with G Adventures, and it was not to be missed. The lodge was beautiful too. From our rooms, the watering hole was easy to see, and we watched elephants roaming all day from the bar, room, and promenade.

We stayed for three wonderful, restful days in July 2025 as a family of four, with children in their late teens. Wildlife came through the nearby water hole while we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, which made the place feel special. The hotel has recently been renovated to a very high standard and is well appointed. What a magical place. Highly recommend.
