Aston Hotel

The room was passable, but the lighting is strange and some of the lights don’t come on. Breakfast was much worse. When the platter was opened, condensation had collected on the eggs, which looked like a perfect place for bacteria.

The fast wifi was a big help, especially because Dutch carriers charge extra for 4G/5G in Andorra. I could stream a movie without any trouble. The room itself was as expected for the price, with an okay balcony, acceptable beds, and fine cleanliness and bathroom. Breakfast was an ordinary buffet. Parking is the main thing to watch out for. Booking says the hotel has parking, but the arrangement is with the garage next door and costs 24€ per 24 hours. For one night it was manageable, but a longer stay would get expensive quickly. Other hotels in Andorra have better parking deals, so paying a little more for a room may work out cheaper. There was no one at reception for at least 15 minutes when I arrived or left, and there’s no bell or other way to announce that you’re waiting. It also felt odd having to choose the room access code where other arriving guests could hear it. You get what you pay for here, though, and some reviews seem to expect a 5-star stay from a 3-star hotel.

We only stopped in for a drink, but the frappelate was impossible to drink because it had far too much ice. The waitress didn’t seem to care at all and didn’t even offer an apology.

The reception staff were very friendly, and the location is convenient, but that’s about where the positives end. We requested a one-bedroom room and instead got two beds pushed together that separated in the middle. The A/C was broken, and the replacement they offered was a fan. There are plenty of hotels in just as good a location with rooms in better condition. For everything else, I’d give it 2/10.
