Apartaments ENGAÏT

We had to keep twelve people and all our luggage waiting outside for two hours because the stated 17:00 check-in changed to 19:00. Reception was just an apartment room and there was no place to leave our bags. Once inside, the apartment had open windows, no bed linen, and was in poor condition. The pull-out sofa supports were broken, the curtain rail came off the wall almost immediately, a chair was already broken, and there were toenail clippings on a bathroom floor. We photographed everything because we were worried about losing our deposit, and reported the damage straight away. At departure, we left the rooms in excellent condition and put the extra rubbish in bags beside the table, since there were no bins or cleaning service and nobody had explained what to do. The lady working there called the place poor, told us in very broken English that our rubbish was not her problem, and demanded €40 in cash from each apartment before releasing the deposits. A month later, after a friend posted an honest review, she texted that friend to retaliate and even said her mother and father had not raised her right. That was completely unacceptable. The apartments were unhygienic and messy, and the staff member was rude and unprofessional. Avoid this place.

The apartment itself is lovely, and the shower is especially good. It really just needs a glass door or screen around it.

The bunk beds felt ancient and unstable enough to make climbing onto them scary, and the mattresses were nowhere near comfortable. Half of the utensils were missing too. There was even an inventory in the kitchen with surprisingly high replacement prices, including €500 for what was only a mediocre sofa bed. Then, before the official checkout time, he entered the apartment to inspect it while we were gathering our luggage. Waiting at the door would have given us some privacy and let us pack in peace.

Take pictures of the apartment as soon as you arrive. Ours was already quite dirty, the sofa bed had missing slats, and some bathroom doors and windows would not shut properly. At the end, the receptionist accused us of breaking dishes and failing to clean appliances, apparently to avoid returning the deposit. She only came to inspect after part of it was being withheld. It was hard not to wonder whether we were expected to do cleaning that had not been done before we arrived.
