Hotel Mu

For a budget stay, the hotel is acceptable, especially if you have your own transport, but I wouldn't expect an easy, relaxing trip. The location's transport was unreliable: the free ski bus was rarely punctual, and the taxis, all 4 that seemed to serve the area, arrived when they wanted rather than when requested. The half-board buffet wasn't great if you're particular about food. I was okay with it, but my wife had problems. Our room was small, though it contained what we needed and even had a token balcony. The shower was very good. English IS spoken despite the name badges, although I needed Google translate a couple of times with one reception member. The "spa" was disappointing, with damp above the hot tub and on the ceiling, and the "hot" tub wasn't hot. On our first night I skinned my finger on a restaurant chair because the seat wasn't secured to its legs, and it still hadn't completely healed. The hotel is fine if expectations stay modest. For more ease and relaxation, stay in La Massana.

The location is the main drawback. It's fairly remote, and although free buses run to the slopes, their timings are pretty inconsistent. Still, the deal we got through Secret Escapes was an absolute bargain, even after adding taxi costs to the slopes. Inside, the hotel was clean, warm, and cosy, with very helpful staff who did everything they could to make the stay pleasant. The food was good if a little random, though this was our first half-board experience, so perhaps that's normal. We always found something we both liked. The spa was brilliant too, and the outside hot tub, right by the road, was worth trying even just once. I'd definitely recommend it.

The welcoming, helpful staff were the highlight, and they even helped us make restaurant reservations. Our room was a decent size, while the large balcony had a beautiful view. Breakfast was delicious and offered plenty of different choices. The dry and wet sauna and Jacuzzi were amazing and clean. The hotel is beautiful, and pets can stay for a small amount per night. #petsallowed

The staff made my family feel as though we belonged there, and their service was polite and effortless. Our room was spotless, warm, and cosy, with wonderfully soft beds. I've stayed in 5 and 6 stars hotels on every continent during my travels, but none felt more welcoming than the MU hotel!. The food and breakfast were a fresh delight.
