This felt much more like home than a guesthouse. The view from the room was amazing, and the location was right beside the castle, about ten minutes from the centre. liliana was the best host and an excellent cook, especially with her Albanian stuffed eggplants, which tasted far better than I ever imagined eggplants could. She helped with all our questions despite the language barrier. Berat was my favourite city of the trip, and staying here made the memories even better. Five stars for everything.

We only ate at the restaurant, so that’s all I can comment on. A man approached us while we were heading to the restaurant next door and persuaded us with promises of traditional food at a good price. Unfortunately, the meal was very ordinary. The typical 7-euro menu wasn’t worth it, the cheeses had no flavour, and none of us enjoyed the rest of the food either. The waiter was also overly persistent and asked far too many questions, including where we were staying and how much we had paid.

The host was wonderful, and the place had been beautifully renovated while still feeling lovely and welcoming. Everything was spotless, and we felt right at home. We were greeted with a typical snack, followed by a very generous breakfast that gave us a great start to the day. Thank you, Lili!! 😍
