Onufri Hotel

The staff made this visit especially enjoyable. They were kind, funny, friendly, and always ready to help, usually with a smile. Dinner service was also polite, attentive, and professional. It’s a warm, welcoming place, and I’d gladly come back.

We booked at the last minute and were able to get into our room straight away. The hotel is right in central berat, so most places are easy to reach on foot, and there’s garage parking underneath. The staff were very friendly and helped us with our bags. The building has an older-fashioned style and the bedroom views are brilliant. The bathroom is tiny, but everything worked perfectly.

The location is excellent, but the staff’s attitude really took away from the stay. Service often came with a scowl, and having to carry our suitcase up three flights of stairs wasn’t enjoyable. Breakfast was acceptable, unless you like battling through a tour group crowd. It was an okay experience that could have been considerably better.

The most memorable thing about Hotel Onufri was the wide view of Berat’s “City of a Thousand Windows” and the river valley. From the hotel’s position in the historic Mangalem quarter, we could wake up to that scenery. Our room was spacious, spotless, and thoughtfully decorated, mixing traditional Albanian character with modern amenities. The staff were professional, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. For a clean room, warm service, and an authentic Berat setting, this is a very good choice.
