Pupa Winery Serene Stay

The wine tasting at Pupa winery came with two small plates of food, and the gentleman explained each of the wines to us. Since the weather was good, we sat outside and enjoyed a nice view. We had a lovely evening.

Pupa was an amazing value because the room price included a vineyard tour, a winemakers tour, wine tasting, and breakfast, even though it was pretty cheap. The tours were really good, the wine was amazing, and the food and service were excellent. We had a truly unforgettable night.

We had come a long way for the restaurant and wine tasting, but as just two people we received almost no attention. The restaurant seemed arranged for large groups. We had to find a table ourselves, no one greeted us, and the staff focused on the bigger parties. It took a very long time to get the menu and place our order, even after calling the waiter several times. When we asked to take the leftover meat away, they simply brought a bag and some foil. The food wasn’t bad, but the poor treatment means I can’t recommend this restaurant.

At 100 euros including the room, wine tasting, and tour, this was quite a bargain. Davey is a lovely lad and a real credit to his family. For an early lunch, I’d suggest sharing the starter between two people. If you do the tasting, ask about the wine that isn’t included and have it with lunch, it’s an incredible red and, in my opinion, their best wine.
