Breakfast on the terrace, looking out at the castle, was one of those moments I wish I could hold onto. The hosts were attentive and so friendly, which made everything feel personal and warm. Castle Hotel felt like a boutique museum, with old stone walls, woodwork, and antique furniture that all carry the character of Gjirokastër. The place has an elegant, authentic atmosphere, while the comfort is modern and thoughtfully done. Stylish, friendly, and unforgettable. I’ll remember this stay for a long time.

The family who hosted us were lovely, and this was a really good family tan hotel. It felt authentically Albanian and was very clean. We stayed in a smaller room that was cosy and good value. Room number 9 is the best one, recently upgraded and spacious. They take good care of their animals too, who seemed confident and unafraid of anything 😂😂

The homemade breakfast comes with a breathtaking view of the city, and the hosts, who live above the hotel, are kind and helpful. It’s near the entrance to Gjirokastra castle, just outside the crowded area, so it’s peaceful. Our room was very comfortable. The bathroom was tiny, but that wasn’t really a problem. Parking can be tricky, so take the new road up the hills. You come in almost right beside the hotel.

We stayed in a double room with a city view. It was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, especially the bed, with a huge bathroom and luxurious shower. From the room we could see the castle, valley, and mountains. The family running the hotel were wonderful hosts, and the restaurant deck has one of the best outlooks in the city. It’s a great place for the delicious breakfast, which is included. The hotel sits below the castle, a short walk from the bazaar, and was amazing value all round.

The breakfast area looks out onto the castle, and the location is perfect, right next to the old town’s main street. The place was spotless, the owners were very friendly and helpful, and everything was excellent value for money.
