The hosts were kind, the view was amazing to wake up to, and shops and sights were a short walk away. But parking was awful. Their home is up a very old, narrow, steep pebble road, and there’s no parking on site. We were made to feel we had to park with a neighbor who charges 5€ per day, even though there’s free parking not too far down the hill. Whenever we moved the car, another family member came out asking us to pay. Eventually they brought out a 12-year-old to speak English so we could explain we’d already paid.

The garden was quiet and cozy, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The owner was really, really nice and offered us a very good breakfast. It was a pleasure staying here.

Bring walking shoes for Gjirokaster. The house is high on the hill beside the castle, and although walking through the narrow streets was nice, driving up them was scary for me. The rooms are spacious and cozy, everything is very clean and smells wonderful, and the owners are super sweet and kind. You get your own bathroom, though it’s outside the room.

We loved this cute, cozy homestay. It’s newly renovated, and the hosts are great and really friendly. Being high up the mountain means lovely valley views at breakfast. It’s also well placed for visiting the castle and finding somewhere to eat.

Getting here by car is tricky, but the host helped me park close to the door. The place is way up the hill, so walking up from the old town takes some effort. We had a very good breakfast with eggs and sweet pancakes, and the view over the city was superb. The hosts were kind and sweet. Our room was clean and nice, with a fan, and the toilet and shower were private to us but outside the room.
