Hotel Olympia

The steep location was the main reason we gave the hotel three stars. You have to hike uphill several times a day, which gets exhausting, especially with small children or when carrying things. We really appreciated the receptionist, cleaners, and woman at the pool bar. They were all kind and professional and made the stay special. The cleaners deserve a special mention, they’re absolute champions! ⭐️ But two men working at the pool bar were extremely rude and unprofessional. They didn’t seem to know how to treat guests or do their jobs properly. They let people jump into the pool and disturb everyone in what should have been a peaceful area. A large, noisy group made the poolside unpleasant and even dangerous for kids. One man accidentally hit my child with a ball while playing. He apologized, but the relaxing atmosphere was already ruined. Breakfast was very disappointing. Everything was dry and tasteless, the coffee was like water with a spoonful of coffee powder, and the server barely communicated. We started going to the café next to the hotel instead. This is a really good property that could reach a five star standard with a few improvements. I’d strongly recommend that management pay closer attention to how things are run and how staff behave.

The owner really doesn’t seem to know how to run a hospitality business. She intimidated us into paying while not providing services, and even after we complained that the air conditioning hadn’t worked for half our trip, her attitude didn’t change. The staff were very polite and helpful, but the service from the hotel was very bad. I’d never recommend it to anyone looking for a proper hotel experience. Go for an Airbnb instead.

The pool was a really pleasant spot, and the staff were friendly. We had lovely views and a good location, plus the air conditioning and free Wi-Fi both worked well. The restaurant's drinks and pasta were tasty. There were a few downsides in the room: the shower didn't always get hot, and the rain showerhead wasn't connected to anything. Our bed only had a sheet, no blanket. Poolside music also got too loud at times.

I left after one night because I couldn't manage to stay any longer. The room was dirty and smelled strongly of dust and rubble. Turning on the A.C. pushed the same smell out because its filter was filthy, so I switched it off straight away. I was covered in mosquito bites after that single night, and the room fridge didn't work either. The place is old and hasn't been renovated. On the map it seems near the beach and downtown, but it actually felt far away and sits about 600 meters above sea level. At 5 P.M. I tried to rest, but staff spent hours loudly cleaning nearby rooms. I asked them to stop and they ignored me. I don't blame the workers for doing their job, but management should have handled the timing; making that much noise then showed no respect for guests. I have photos and videos as proof, and if the owner denies what happened, I'll share them. This hotel isn't worth a single cent. It's the worst place I've ever stayed.
