Mak Albania Hotel

The rooms are roomy and the beds are very comfortable, though the rooms could use an update. The pool and gym are spacious and comfortable, a real plus, and breakfast is satisfying. It’s a good hotel with hard-working staff, but some people were less friendly or spoke less English. They hadn’t told us about the maintenance beforehand. It blocked some important routes through the building and went on from morning until night. Still, it’s worth staying here.

The staff were okay, but the rest felt like a Monty Python sketch. We arrived at 1630 and there was nonstop noise right outside our 3rd-floor window, with cement being poured and grinding going on until 2240. The pool was closed, and the exterior looked like it had been bombed, in such sad shape. Hotels should close affected rooms and sections during work like this, but it felt like they were taking advantage of tourists for the money. People stay at hotels to rest and relax, and this place wasn’t that.

The construction noise right outside my 3rd-floor room went on well after 10 pm. I was told 8:30, then 9:00, then 9:30, and after that they stopped answering my calls. I went to the front desk and complained again. This has been a known problem since well before 2022, and there was no management on site. Remotely, someone offered me a drink at the bar for the “inconvenience”. I don’t drink. Avoid this hotel at all cost.

The pool is nice, the rooms are spacious, and the location is good. But booking came with no notice about maintenance, and the loud noise carried on to the end. Reception staff weren’t helpful and didn’t handle guests professionally. On the night shift there was just one receptionist, who wouldn’t answer calls, saying he had other things to do than see what a guest wanted. That’s not acceptable for a hotel considered five-star. Groups staying there were disorganized and caused harassment in the lobby and at breakfast, while hotel staff didn’t try to control them.
