Hotel Eco

The staff were very accommodating, and I liked the hotel. Highly recommended.

The employees were pleasant, and the hotel had some atmosphere, with a nice garden. It’s fairly close to the airport, though the city center isn’t that far either. Still, my room gave me enough reasons to regret choosing this place. I tried saving money during a layover, but it wasn’t worth it. For 45 euros, I’d rather stay at the excellent Metropol than pay 35 here. I don’t understand why hotel quality for the price in Yerevan is so poor. This was one of the worst ratios I’ve come across. For a bit more, you can get much better places, and 35 euros would go far for a good hotel or apartment in Georgia or even Moscow. The hotel address on Booking and Google was wrong. I took the Booking address, and around 1am the taxi dropped me at a building several blocks closer to the city. Thankfully the driver called the hotel and took me there instead of leaving me stranded at night. I saw a COCKROACH run from behind the bathroom door to the toilet. It was the first time I’d ever seen one in a hotel. I slept with the bathroom light on and the door closed. If I’d seen another, I think I would have left, even in the middle of the night, and written off the 35 euros. The hot water stopped after about two minutes in the shower. I waited several minutes, then had to wash my hair in cold water. The shower towel felt like it had been used and not washed, based on my experience in many hotels around the world, though the small face towel was fine. The mattress was really firm and uncomfortable. In the morning, the owner asked how my stay was. I said, “Well, I guess ok for one night,” and he replied, “What did you expect for such a price?” Unbelievable. The price wasn’t even that low compared with other places in Yerevan.

The room was cold and smoky, old, and barely furnished. We’d booked through Booking, but the owner tried to charge more than the listed price. It was just terrible, and I wouldn’t recommend it even for one night.

We had a Booking.com reservation, but someone else was already in the room despite our booking. They asked us to come back later, so we decided to cancel.
