Hotel Mashtots Hotel

The hotel is well placed for getting around, near Northern Avenue and not far from Republic Square, with restaurants, bars, pharmacies, ATMs, and a 24/7 supermarket all around. Staff were flexible, kind, and very friendly, and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was tasty and varied, with omelette, tea or coffee, vegetables, fruit, and juice. It also suits families with children. We had a really wonderful stay and highly recommend it.

It’s a small, family-run hotel in the basement of a residential building, whose exterior isn’t among the most elegant in Yerevan. Inside, it feels like a completely different place, so don’t let the outside put you off. The rooms are medium-small but have the toiletries and amenities you might need on a trip, including slippers and toothpaste. Breakfast is included in the price.

The location is superb, about 300m from the Opera and 50m from Great Supermarket, which is open 24/7 and will cook fresh Kabob there, including ground beef, ground chicken, chicken legs, and wings, for 700+. They stored our bags for free while we waited for a late flight. Our corner room with two beds was roomy, fairly quiet, and had a good-sized fridge, HDTV, bathroom, and shower. The room setups and sizes differ. It’s great value, with a clean room, wonderful staff, good breakfast, and WiFi. We’ll stay here again on our next visit to Yerevan, and you should too.

The breakfast has to be eaten at a time you choose, which is a little odd, and it isn’t very filling. Apart from that, the rooms are comfortable and quiet, with a great shower and a small fridge. The location is excellent for getting quickly to the metro, cascades, supermarkets, and Republic square. You might not expect much from a small hotel tucked into the basement of a big apartment block, but it’s much better than it sounds.
