Paris Hotel

The room was big and had a balcony, and breakfast had lots of buffet choices. The staff were welcoming. It's right in the center of things, so getting around was easy. The road is busy, though, and there's nowhere to park while dropping off or picking up luggage.

The location was fantastic, very close to the town's main square. The rooms were spacious enough for our family, clean and quiet, and the staff were polite and professional. There's a well-prepared Italian restaurant on the top floor with skilled staff. We had a pleasant stay and would rate this four-star hotel 10 out of 10.

The fitness center was the only disappointing part of our stay. I chose this hotel partly because I like working out, but the gym had very limited equipment and needs maintenance and improvement. The dumbbells stopped at 10 kg, and it looked like the heavier ones were missing. There were few machines, and they weren't very functional. The gym needs an upgrade to give guests a satisfactory place to exercise. Everything else was excellent. The hotel was spotless and well maintained, service was outstanding, and the staff were kind and helpful. Breakfast had great variety and quality. They also kindly gave us a free late checkout when I was sick, and kept our luggage after checkout so we didn't have to carry it until our flight. We had a wonderful stay overall and I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

The location made it easy to get around central Yerevan. Cafes, restaurants, sights and museums are within walking distance. We ate at Casa Nostra and Napoletana Armenia, the latter twice, and also ordered room service. Nearby, Rock Four mini-supermarket across the street sells alcohol and has a money exchange. The hotel is about a 25-minute drive from Yerevan Zvartnots Airport; I bought a data-only Ucom SIM card at the Ucom desk beside baggage reclaim. We stayed four nights in April, and breakfast was included. Check-in is in a small lobby with helpful English-speaking staff. They booked us a taxi and a table at a local restaurant. The premises were clean, Wi-Fi was free throughout, and there's an underground car park. A large lift serves all floors, but it's the only one, so there were occasional queues. There was no designated pickup or drop-off area on the busy street. Our room, 1101 on the 11th floor, was a spacious Deluxe twin with two single beds and keycard entry. It had air-con, a large mirror, a three-door cupboard with hanging space and shelves, an electronic safe, sandals, a suitcase stand, desk and chair, lamp, round wooden table, tissues, upholstered chair and footstool, bedside tables and desk lamps, and a telephone. There was a wall-mounted 40-inch Hisense TV with YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video apps, a room-service menu, tea, cups, a kettle, a Nespresso machine and a fridge with chargeable contents. The en-suite bathroom was spacious, with a large mirror, walk-in shower, toilet, basin, lotions, tissues, hairdryer, scales and bathrobes. From the room we could see the buildings opposite and the street below, plus an angled view of Mount Ararat on a clear day. The room had some problems. Traffic noise came through the windows, which need better sound insulation, and we also heard the live band above in the evening. I wore earplugs to sleep. The air-con didn't work properly, and the curtains weren't backed, so light flooded in. Montmartre restaurant-bar is on the 12th floor, the rooftop. It serves breakfast from 7 to 10:30 a.m. on weekdays and 7:30 to 11 a.m. on weekends. The continental buffet had cereal, nuts, bread, eggs, sausage, salad, fruit and cakes, with one small toaster and two coffee machines. It overlooks the city, and we could see the two distant peaks of Mount Ararat, Greater and Lesser Ararat. There's also a Fitness Center and Meeting Room on the third floor. The restaurant had a singer and band every night from 8 p.m., which was also noisy. We took a 2.5-hour Free Tour walk from Cascade Complex past Northern Avenue, Opera House, Republic Square, Blue Mosque and St. Sargis Vicarial Church, with views toward Mount Ararat. We also went on two minibus day trips out of Yerevan. One covered Arch of Charents, Garni Temple, Symphony of Stones and Geghard Chapel; the other went to Khor Virap, Areni-1 Cave, Noravank Monastery and Areni Wine Factory. During my time in Armenia, we also traveled to Goris and Dilijan.
